Answers to common issues with the current data preparation tool. For a full walkthrough of every feature, see the Documentation.

Common issues

My file won’t upload

Make sure the file is a supported type — Excel (.xlsx or .xls), CSV, or JSON — and isn't corrupted. DocBit processes files locally in your browser, so a very large file can also run into your browser's available memory; closing other tabs or trying a smaller file usually resolves this.

DocBit picked the wrong header row

Open the Data panel in the workspace and change the header row selection. DocBit re-analyzes columns and data types automatically once you pick a different row.

Search or filters are hiding rows I expect to see

Row search (above the data table) and the Filter panel work independently. Clear the search box and check for active filter conditions one at a time to see which is excluding the rows you're looking for.

An export looks different from the preview

This shouldn't happen — exports are generated from the exact same processed dataset shown in the preview table. If you see a mismatch, try re-running the export after refreshing the page, and note the file type and steps that led to it.

I want to start over

Use Reset report to return to the original uploaded data at any time. Your uploaded file itself is never modified, so a reset always gets you back to a clean starting point.

Still need help?

DocBit doesn't require an account, so there's nothing to look up on our end — most issues can be resolved directly from the steps above or the Documentation.
